Falcon Flyer: Birds of a Feather

It has been a December to remember at Green Hope Elementary! We joined together to lend a helping hand to families in need, serviced our outdoor environment, and spread joy with the sound of music. We also won a few awards. Our Falcon families who support efforts to bring this community together have really showed up this first half of the year, and we are so grateful for you. Without your help, there could not be so many enriching programs for our learners. Thank you for sharing this sometimes overwhelming, but always rewarding, responsibility with the PTA. GHE truly has the best families, staff and students. We are looking forward to an exciting 2020 with lots of traditional and new events, including Spring Carnival, family fun nights and a revamped STEAM night. Can't wait to see you there!

This Land is Our Land

On recent sunny Saturday morning, parent, staff and student volunteers brought their gardening tools to GHE to help upkeep the grounds while listening to holiday music and having dirt-y fun. Parents and students worked alongside each other to spread lots of mulch over two hours. Thank you to our School Beautification volunteers: Patty, Patrick, PJ and Jayden Barry; Tanya, Andrea, Eleanor, and Marianne Hertel; Marjorie, Charles, and Henk Eastman; Sudhir and Adithya Burisetty; 1st gr. teacher Caitlin, Matt, and Brinley Wilson; Daniel and Abigail Williams; Suzanne and Quinn Robottom.

The Lights of Jingle Bell Hill

Every other year Mrs. Small, our talented music teacher, and the 5th graders put on a holiday chorus concert extravaganza. This year it was called The Lights of Jingle Bell Hill. Mrs. Driggers made the beautiful set design. Thank you to Mrs. Williams, Mr. Denman, Mrs. Patterson and McClane Brostedt for all your hard work on this event.

Helping Hands

This year's Helping Hands gift donation drive was our most successful ever. We collected over 225 items for 25 children in the GHE family. Thank you to Rachel Gill, Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Tew, Jen Kelly, Sharon Peters and Mariahna Moore for running this program and making such a huge impact in our community, and for all of our families who donated so generously to this program.

2019 Conservation Contest Winners

GHE has the most talented students. Five GHE students made it to the top 10 winners of the Wetlands poster contest at the 2019 Conservation Awards Celebration. The theme of this year's contest was "Wetlands are Wonderful." Prisha Shah, 5th Grade, won First Place for Wake County, a $100 award and her poster will go to Regionals this Spring. Good luck at Regionals, Prisha! The other four winners from GHE are: Laasya Kompella, Aneesh Pudipeddi, Nishka Nerkar, and Reneeka Roy. Thank you to Mrs. Hampton, Miss Hunt and Mrs. D'Amico for overseeing this program and attending the awards ceremony with the students. We are so proud of our super creative Falcons.
